Every customer’s material dispensing needs are unique. Hence, a successful system design frequently involves a degree of customization. This involves careful consideration of the specific components to be processed, the substrates and materials involved, the process parameters, and so on. Lab scale trials using customer materials add tremendous value to this process. These trials allow the designer to experiment with different alternative solutions and select the one that best meets the customers’ needs. They also provide the customers an opportunity to witness the solutions in real life before a purchase decision is made.
Nordson provides extensive lab infrastructure in key locations all over the world. Our Engineering Resources & Technology Centre in Bangalore, India, houses laboratories with a comprehensive range of test equipment and the capability to simulate production processes in a controlled environment. While these labs are used primarily in the process of developing solutions for our customers, they are also frequently used for training of customers’ and our own personnel. Our labs are also made available to customers to carry out trials of their own, subject to availability: to test out new materials or new process parameters for instance.

The Web Coating lab houses a fully featured hot melt coating system, capable of doing production scale trials on substrates up to 500 mm wide. The coater can be used for applying a wide range of hot melt adhesives on different kinds of substrates – paper, non woven and woven textiles, plastic film etc. It is capable of being operated at speeds of up to
300 metres per minute.
The Packaging & Product Assembly lab is equipped with an extensive range of hot melt and liquid adhesive dispensing equipment, complete with the latest control systems. Lab trials can be conducted here using virtually any kind of hot melt or liquid adhesive, enabling customers to validate innovative processes before making any investments.
The Surface Finishing lab is equipped with a range of Nordson’s most recent products, from powder booths, powder guns and control systems to liquid applicators using airless, air spray and rotary atomization technologies.
