Nordson India in the Community
Nordson recognizes its role as a corporate citizen in the communities where it operates. Our founders and leaders have recognized corporate philanthropy as a Nordson institution. We believe in sharing our success to improve the quality of life for our communities and to enable individuals to become productive in society.

Every year Nordson commits 5 percent of total pretax income to charitable causes under the categories of Education, Human Welfare, Arts and Culture, and Civic – with a focus on Education. We believe that enabling access to quality education from early childhood through adulthood helps individuals become self-sufficient, active participants in the community’s long-term growth.

Education

Senior Managers in Nordson India participate actively in the field of education in and around Bangalore. As guest faculty in leading colleges, they are able to share with the next generation some of their learning and experience.

In India, Nordson is committed to bridging the perceived gap between academia and industry. Towards this end, senior managers of Nordson India participate in the development of abiding links between these two important segments of society. The Managing Director of Nordson India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Suprotik Das, is a Member of the Academic Council of Mount Carmel College, the leading women’s college in Bangalore. Through this association, Nordson makes the reality of the business world accessible to the world of education, and thereby contributes in making education more meaningful.

Health Care

As the new fiscal year 2008 begins, Nordson India continues its contributions to Nightingales Medical Trust, a charitable organization that cares for the welfare of the elderly and indigent in and around Bangalore.

In support of the excellent work being done by them, Nordson India has been making donations of medicines to the Nightingales Medical Trust. These medicines are used in Nightingales’ projects, most importantly the Mobile Medicare Programme, a programme that takes medical and nursing care to the rural elderly.

Nightingales’ projects and their senior citizens’ help-line have received widespread acclaim in Indian society since its inception in 1996. NMT plays an important role in empowering the elderly – frequent victims of abuse and harassment from their families and communities – to live comfortable, active, and productive lives.

“We are impressed with the nature of the work they do, and their commitment to marginalized sections of our society” says Mr. A N Venkatesh, Financial Controller, Asia Pacific Region. “They’re doing something significant not just for the elderly and the poor. By training volunteers in first-aid services and geriatric counseling, they are helping create a new generation of Bangaloreans that is sensitive, socially aware and willing to participate in eliminating some of the ills of our society.”
